In this week's passage we'll explore the surprising growth of
the church in Antioch, a remarkable community of faith first described to us
in Acts 11:19-30. Rooted in a redemptive response to persecution, this
church united across ethnic and social lines, embodying God's transformative power in a pagan and immoral society. In this remarkable church, it was anonymous and ordinary believers, empowered by the Spirit, who shared the Gospel, leading to a "large numbers" of souls who turned to Christ. Antioch became a model of devotion to God’s Word, discipleship, and joyful generosity, showing the powerful impact of God’s hand upon a church that is dedicated to His glory and fame above all else.
